First quarter 2010 is nearly over. In the past month we’re facing some interesting decisions both as a family and as small business owners. We’re closing watching the machinations in Washington DC and we’re not sure how important small business truly is to the politicians. The proposed legislation in health care, energy, and tax policies concerns us a great deal.

On the other hand, the potential to grow Veracity Technologies is very exciting! We see new and emerging sectors of opportunity.

We realize that we have to be diligent and keep our work-life in the proper balance. Too often entrepreneurs and small business owners neglect family duties. We don’t want that to happen to us! Here are some tips that we strive to live by:

  • Meal times are for family. Blackberries, PDAs, etc are not allowed at the table.
  • Scheduling is important for the business side and for the family.
  • Vacations are just that… a vacation from the day-to-day.
  • Financial plans and business plans are transparent.

I pose a question to all you small business owners out there… how do you balance your business life and your family?
