Sometimes I have a hard time biting my tongue. Especially when others are lashing out in a nonsensical fashion. I realize that this time of year can be difficult for folks. I respect that. But for crying out loud people, there is no reason to be rude or obnoxious. Sometimes you need to slow down and check your attitude.
I’ve learned over the years to let the nastiness roll on by if it’s directed at me. But say something about my family or my friends… well, let’s just leave that one alone. My best defense is found in prayer. Whatever is making you angry – I pray that you will find peace. Whatever is making you say/write nasty things – I pray that God will clear your head and calm you down.
Anger and bad attitudes will ruin your life. It will affect those around you. I leave you with this…
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. -Matthew 7:3-5 New International Version (NIV)
